Riverfront

The Riverfront area is kind of an old-timey looking place. There is a lot of brutalist architecture, similar to the big concrete slabs in the west bank, but that is all sleek sandstone. Then there are the older buildings such as the place outside of Dunn Brothers that looks like the wonky Capitol Hill in School House Rock. There are other cool older buildings with interesting roof and window arrangements. My favorite may have been a really boring looking new building that said "RENAISSANCE". That kind of explains a bit of this area in the "is/was" context. There were a lot of decorative buildings that were replaced by these midwestern bauhaus type buildings, but there are still a lot of cool older buildings as well.
