the importance of a notebook
some of the things that i find value in a note book are tons and ton of sketches. the most common thing that represents ideas or the history of a thought process in a not book is mark making. and through that mark making new and vivid sketches can come out. colors are also useful, although i haven't taken advantage of it as much myself. by now im starting to appreciate the aspect of "taking it all in. before my illustrated note book class i used my notebook for drawing finished and complete concepts. but now iv developed an awareness to taking in the feel of everything that i observe. whether it is a shape a building creates, the interaction between shadows and lights or even just gestures of figures and animals. also the type of note book can make all the difference. as o now i have a high appreciation for my large sized sketch book. it allows me to get more information on the page, but at the same time it can serve as a bigger surface for a bigger image or statement.
